Vivek Agnihotri on The Kerala Story: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has given a bad news to the team of The Kerala Story a day after its release. On Saturday, Vivek wrote a long note on Twitter, in which he told the film’s producer Vipul Shah, director Sudipto Sen and actor Adah Sharma that from now on his life will not be the same. He warned that now he will have to face hatred very badly.

Vivek Agnihotri tweeted and said, ‘The story of Kerala. I grew up listening to great filmmakers and cinema critics say that the only purpose of art is to provoke people to question their own beliefs and prejudices. I have also grown up hearing that cinema reflects the reality of the society. I was told that cinema should destroy the old gods and create new gods.

‘It is not easy to make such films in India’
He further said, ‘I have come to know that in modern times, cinema has the power to do what media and politics cannot do. It can present uncomfortable realities, correct history, fight culture wars and even become soft power of the nation for the larger good. It is not easy to make such films in India. I’ve tried it with Buddha in a Traffic Jam, The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. I was physically, professionally, socially and psychologically attacked.

Vivek Agnihotri further wrote, ‘Dear Vipul Shah and Sudipto Sen and Ada Sharma and the team of The Kerala Story, first of all I congratulate you for this bold endeavour. Also let me give you a bad news that from now on your life will not be same as before. You will get unimaginable hate. You will start suffocating. At times you may be confused and disappointed, but remember, God tests those shoulders on whom He can put the responsibility of making a change.’
